UAS Class Poster

.
This week in class we were tasked with creating a poster for the Fall 2019 UAS capstone class. The goal of the poster was to bring the entire class together as a team to create a product that represents what UAS as a major can offer students. I participated in this project in a variety of ways. As a student in the class I helped with suggestions about poster topic ideas along with the formatting of the poster and the introduction. I also came up with the idea and orchestrated the "fleet photo" that is featured in the center of the poster.

After multiple topics were considered for the poster we as a class decided to focus on why the program would be a good choice for a prospective student. There are multiple career routes that can be chosen at Purdue University's airport, and one of them is UAS which stands for Unmanned Aerial Systems. This degree path is focused on drones and applies to students who want to benefit their future with a focus on hardware of drones and data processing. The poster below details the work we do in class and gives a visual and written introduction to the program. The target audience is anyone who would be walking around NISW, the building where UAS classes are held. This ranges from prospective students to faculty to students currently enrolled in other majors. By having this poster on display it gives UAS an opportunity to grow and gain interest from other Purdue students.

The poster highlights some of the systems we use along with the data that we collect with those systems. One section highlights the work that our senior design team is currently working on; developing new SAR techniques while utilizing UAS to decrease the time spent looking for someone. The poster also includes multi-patch models along with 3D models that were created in Pix4D. We also included volumetrics, orthomosaics, and some thermal images to demonstrate the various data we work with.
