As the new semester brings in AT 419, a UAS capstone course, we start the semester off with a written assignment designed to introduce us, undergraduate students, to the world of research writing. This style of paper is known as a white paper, and researching and presenting information on these kinds of papers is the focus of this paper. Lab4-Using ArcGIS Pro to Generate an Orthomosaic with UAS Imagery

Introduction What is the Ortho Mapping Suite in ArcPro? How does it relate to UAS imagery? This program and its tools focus on aerial photography and allow for a series of orthorectified images and maps. What is Bundle Block Adjustment? Bundle block is important because it performs a series of adjustments to each image so that the exterior orientation of the image is changed in a way that matches up with the surrounding images in a more appealing way. After this, the entire image is also adjusted to better fit the basemap. What is the advantage of using this method? Is it perfect? This method provides a cleaner final product but is not perfect. It requires a long processing time and can lead to residual and overall errors. These errors stem from images that were very off focus and the program can not adjust fully but are identified for the user so that they can manually be adjusted. Lab 10: Processing Oblique Imagery in Pix4D

Introduction This lab utilizes the tool of image annotation which allows the user to remove unwanted pieces of an image. For this lab we used oblique imagery and 3D models that were created in Pix4D, and using those models and the image annotation tool we were then able to remove unwanted parts of the image leaving just the truck and light post. At what phase in the processing is this performed? This step needs to be performed after the initial processing. What types of Image Annotation are there? There are three types of image annotation: Mask, Global Mask, and Carve.  Mask annotation would be used for removing some obstacles that appear in a few of the images or to automatically remove the sky Global Mask annotation would be used for a piece of the image that is consistently in the lens at a fixed location.
